EdUHK Visits and Holds Seminars at Universiti Brunei Darussalam

With the aim of empowering education professionals in Brunei, the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) joined hands with the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), the country’s top university, to hold a two days of workshops and seminars on 18 and 19 March.


The delegation included Associate Vice President (Internationalisation) Professor Lo Sing-kai, Executive Director of the Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education Professor Kenneth Sin Kuen-fung, Acting Head of the Department of Special Education and Counselling Dr Cherry Yum Yen-na, and Acting Head of the Department of English Language Education Dr Lee Ju-seong of EdUHK.


This capacity-strengthening programme was designed to advance educational research. It attracted a diverse audience, including representatives from the Ministry of Education’s Department of Planning, Development and Research, the Brunei Darussalam Leadership and Teacher Academy, the Department of Schools, as well as academic staff and research students of the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHIBE).


Among the various sessions, one notable seminar focused on special education teachers. It provided a platform for collaborative learning and for sharing valuable insights.


Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Global Affairs) of UBD said the partnership between EdUHK and UBD extended beyond the two-day event, signifying an ongoing commitment to enhance education in Brunei. By bringing together educators, researchers and field leaders, they have created a vibrant platform for dialogue, idea exchange and collective learning. She added that this environment not only contributed to the professional growth of the participants but also shaped the future of education in Brunei.
